The Politics, Poetry, and Punchlines Project.
The Politics, Poetry & Punchlines project students were asked to consider what role comedy, poetry, and political discourse play in our lives as a way to address our deepest thoughts, both on an individual and societal level? Students were asked to examine what modes of communication elicit the deepest truths, and how those truths take shape in different forms. Beyond considering the answers to these questions, we actively stepped into the role of poet, comedian, journalist and cartoonist, sometimes simultaneously.
Music
Who likes music? Do you? Do you! Who likes music, what's music? A tune. A tune combined with so many factors, that overlaps and captures. Captures the soul and releases its negativity Captures the soul and somethings, says it repeatedly From lullabies, to rock bands Rap to pop Music is unique in so many ways The way you listen, feel, and even sway When I listen to music I feel eruption In my soul because of corruption Corrupted in my mind from a tiresome day And when I finally get home, I can turn it up, and sleep away! Theres no right music, trust me I know I’ve been judged just because of the music I pick Because for some, become a bit sick. Maybe because of the hard screams and growls Maybe the way my music sounds somewhat, foul? My rock and roll may not tie in with your boom clap My deep thoughts and scary voices might not be your rapy tap. And my music is certainly not your zipy zap. But I kid you not, we relate Even if you hate my music and I dislike yours our music is ours, and it cures! So when thinking of music think only one thing Everyone likes music but not everyone knows how to sing. |
